The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts and its environmental assessment consultant, WSP Australia, are reviewing submissions received on the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Submissions will be considered in finalising the EIS.
In response to submissions, consultation is taking place in August 2024 on 2 flight path proposals for night time procedures. Information on the proposals can be found on the Resources page. You are invited to attend a community information and feedback session to talk to the project team and have your say. Session details are on this page.
The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts’ preference is to receive verbal feedback at the information sessions. You can also provide written feedback on the proposals to wsiflightpaths@infrastructure.gov.au.
The department will consider all feedback received at the information and feedback sessions in August in reviewing the proposals for inclusion in the final EIS. The department will endeavour to consider written feedback that it receives on the proposals.
The final EIS will include a submissions report that will summarise submission comments and how they have been addressed. The final EIS is expected to be published in the second half of 2024.
The final noise insulation and property acquisition policy for WSI is expected to be announced in the second half of 2024.
Following the publication of the final EIS, the flight paths for WSI will undergo detailed design and will be finalised in advance of WSI’s opening, by late 2026.
Community information and feedback sessions for the flight path proposals will be held in August 2024. Attend a session to learn more, speak with the flight paths team, and provide feedback.
Details of each session are set out below. Registration to attend a session is encouraged, but is not necessary.
Community Information and Feedback Sessions and information stalls were held in locations across Greater Western Sydney and Greater Sydney between the release of the preliminary flight paths in June 2023 and the end of the draft EIS exhibition in January 2024.
